Turning 12MP Nikon D700 into a 76MP panorama camera
Nikon D800 is the highest MP (36.3 Mega Pixel) DSLR in the market at present. I have been thinking very seriously on getting a D800 to replace one of my D700. However, as I mentioned on my Facebook page, I personal do not think D800 is a camera for wedding or portraits ergonomically unless you have plenty of time to change focusing settings from the operation menu. In saying that, I absolutely agree D800 is a prefect shooting machine for landscape sort of works without a doubt.
D800 is a 36.3MP camera, but using the traditional panorama stitching approach I achieved a 76MP image without too much extra works with my 12.1MP D700. Well ... I could actually get an even higher MP image if I wanted to and it was not a "must" to be framed as panorama. So, there is an unlimited MP available to us as long as our computer can handle the stitching process.
Apart from high MP, this image's depth of field is super shallow at perhaps equivalent to shooting with a 27mm lens at f/0.4. Will talk about this more later, once I get more practices so I could showcase more images.

This idea is not new and I'm sure many photographers are doing it. This YouTube link is one of the good examples.

2nd July 2011 - Love to Japan

"On March 11 2011, the most powerful known earthquake - magnitude 9.0 - struck off the coast of Japan, followed by extremely destructive Tsunami waves of up to 38.9m that literally washed away everything. Thousands and thousands of cars, boats, houses, schools hospitals and people.
The Japanese National Police Agency has confirmed 15,057 deaths, 5,282 injured, and 9,121 people missing across eighteen prefectures, as well as over 125,000 buildings damaged or destroyed.
Having lost so much, including many of their loved ones, the survivors are rebuilding their lives faced with the fear of the problems growing at neighboring Nuclear Plants.
Love to Japan, fundraising fiesta, 1-4pm 2nd of July 2011 at Birkenhead Primary School, celebrates a beautiful people facing so many challenges. All funds raised will directly go to three primary schools; Nakano, Arahama and Higashirokugo primary school which affected worst in Sendai City in Miyagi." (Quote from Love to Japan Official Website)
Our volunteers team were there captured this event as well as capturing Haere Mai Taiko performance as their official photographers.

Have been very slack so I have not done anything in this blog for VERY LONG time.Unlike some other wedding photographers, I really dislike blog about my clients and their wedding days telling public how the day was and disclose their personal background.
Will try to make some changes here so I can blog about photography, and prehaps every now and then post some wedding works here without any descriptions.
Purchase my Ricoh GR Digital III (aka GRDIII) about a year and a half ago. GRDIII is designed for serious snapper, but I did not ise it much until Ricoh release the recent two firmware upgrades. This little camera is a very powerful gadget since then. I now love to use it for HDR (High Dynamic Range) snap. It delivers up to +/- 2 stops exposures bracketing and with its small size, I can now pretty much HRD snap everywhere.

Thunder Storm
Finished a wedding rehearsal last night and the sky pouring down the heavy rain. That was a thunder storm. I missed out all the chances to take the lightening pictures so that I could be safe driving on the motorway. Did not take photos for lightening but some rain drops while I was waiting for my take away dinner.

HDR
Have not gone out for hobby shooting for quite a while, quite a long while actually. Happened seeing my friend's HDR photographs, got inspired and moved by him so studied some info about HDR photography off the net, asked my friend a couple of questions, and did some trail shootings in the day time. Finally moved myself out there at night and put learning into practice 1st time at night.

IR Auckland City
I have been very lazy not posting any photos nor news here but can find myself sounded excuse saying I was busy. :) I will try my best to post photos here more often. Can't promise, but I will .. try.
This is an infra red photograph of Auckland City, New Zealand. I have been playing with my little gadget Fujifilm IS-1 for a little while now and start to get a reasonable good hand of it. This photograph was not Photoshop but was modified with the simple & free editing software from Google: Picasa3. I did not expect much a good result but this turned out not badly.
